Project Description
This project involves the renovation of the Mellon Galleries on Levels 2 and 3 of the main museum with a total of 16,464 SF (Level 2 = 7,944 SF and Level 3 = 8,520 SF). The project is described as the replacement of deteriorating fire-retardant plywood that was installed as a flooring underlayment and as backing board for the existing concrete slab. The wall scope includes the demolition and replacement of all trim, casing, gypsum board and fire-retardant plywood down to the metal studs, removal and replacement of all flooring, all floor and wall mounted display cases, all security cameras/motion detectors and associated electrical work, painting, and installation of new fixtures. Significant asbestos abatement included as part of the scope of work for this project.
