OUR HISTORY
Beginning as a small masonry firm in 2003, founded by Warren Thomas, CEO, and his wife Starlena Thomas, CFO, RMT Construction & Development Group has grown to encompass a full suite of General Contracting services. Today, RMT’s diversified portfolio consists of Commercial, Industrial, Corporate, Retail, Hospitality, State/Federal/Municipal, Healthcare/Medical Office, Multi-Family, K-12, and Higher Education construction clientele. When the economic climate began its downturn, RMT found itself in a unique position. As private spending waned, spending in the public sector remained comparatively good. As a certified Commonwealth of Virginia SWaM Class A Contractor, RMT strongly pursued public sector construction opportunities. Although large work declined, even in the public sector, smaller interior up-fits and renovation work continued to grow, and this fit RMT very well in the early years. RMT was very efficient and able to turn this type of work around more quickly than its competitors. This allowed RMT to continue to grow where other firms were struggling and, in some cases, going out of business. Under Warren, Star, and Robert’s leadership, the company expanded into new areas and has grown expeditiously since conception. With clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia and spanning throughout Mid-Atlantic Region, RMT’s name and reputation traveled mainly through word of mouth. Built on a foundation of hard work, trust, equality, and most of all, respect.
